FASHION ICON AND LECTURER
Nena Ivon spent her entire career as fashion, special events and marketing director at Saks Fifth Avenue, Chicago during which time she worked with the 20th and 21st Centuries greatest fashion designers producing 1000s of spectacular events. She is widely acknowledged as a fashion expert. Nena currently lectures nationally and teaches fashion courses at Columbia College Chicago. She has chaired many galas and has been active on many charitable and professional organizations. Nena is currently President of the Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum…the Collection is the second largest in the world. She has received honorary degrees and The City of Chicago named a day in her honor.

CLOTH TO COUTURE
All designers begin their creative process with fabric. This lecture will discuss the close relationship the couture designers have had with textiles. While some have designed and produced their own fabrics, others have worked with renowned artists to create unique fabrics providing inspiration for the finished garments while others have worked closely with textile mills in some instances giving them huge profits and visibility. The talk will concentrate on the beginnings of Couture and bring the subject into the 21st Century.
FASHION AND CELEBRITY
Designers have used celebrities to promote their fashions since Charles Fredrick Worth became the first couturier. Travel through the fashion time machine and learn why this has always been an important way for designers to show their latest creations. From the great actresses of the beginning of the 20th Century to Lady Gaga’s of today. A question and answer period will follow the illustrated lecture.
